Harbour facilities information

FIPASS (Falkland Interim Port and Storage System): Situated to the east of
              the Narrows on the south shore of Stanley Harbour. It is owned by
              Falkland Islands Government and managed by the Falkland Islands
              Company Ltd. This facility consists of seven permanently moored
              barges providing 300 metres of berthing face. The depth of water
              varies from 5.7 - 7 metres according to berth. There is a Ro-Ro
              berth. As much notice as possible of berthing requirements
              should be given to the FIPASS manager.

Jetties and Harbour Services

Jetties:
 

East Jetty:  Situated on the south shore of Stanley Harbour and belongs to Falkland Islands Company Ltd. It has a 45 metre berthing face with approximately 3.7 metres of water at its head.

Public Jetty: Used only for landing passengers from launches and other small craft. It has approximately 3 metres of water at its head.

Bunkers:

Bunkers are available from licensed tankers in Berkeley Sound or on the centre and east berths at FIPASS. 4 days notice is required before bunkers can be supplied.

NOTE:
             FOR THE SAKE OF AVOIDANCE OF DOUBT, ONLY THOSE TANKERS WHICH HAVE BEEN LICENSED TO DO SO BY STANLEY SERVICES LTD.  MAY PROVIDE BUNKERS TO OTHER VESSELS WITHIN FALKLAND ISLANDS TERRITORIAL WATERS AND INLAND WATERS. IT IS AN OFFENSE FOR ANY VESSEL UNLICENSED FOR THE PURPOSE TO SUPPLY BUNKERS TO ANOTHER  VESSEL.

Water:

Fresh water is available at 25 tonnes per hour from FIPASS and East Jetty at 12-15 tonnes per hour.

Provisions:

 May be available through your agent, provided ample notice of requirement is given.

Crew and Passenger Exchanges:

These can be arranged by Shipping Agents, depending on availability of flights.

Medical Services:

Medical and Dental services are available at the King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) in Stanley.

Repairs:

Some repair facilities are available, including hull and machinery as well as electrical repairs - check with your agent. An air compressor and welding machine are available for hire. Divers are available.

Pilotage:

May be arranged by your Shipping Agent through the Private Sector (non-compulsary).

Waste Oil:

The disposal of waste oil in bulk may be arranged through Stanley Services Ltd on telephone (500) 22622.
