1.1 Japan

Markets
Total imports of fresh and frozen tuna reached 15,710 tonnes in September, worth JPY 11,189 million. These figures are 1% lower in volume and 6% in value in relation to August while compared to September of the previous year they grow 8% in volume and fall 3% in value.
Imports of fresh tuna in the month were 952 t with a value in Japanese customs of JPY 1,487 million, figure 4% lower in volume and 1% in value compared to the previous month and 9% less in volume and 11% less in value against September 2018.

As regards frozen tuna, imports during the month reported 14,758 tonnes, with a value of JPY 9,701 million.
These figures are similar in volume and 7% higher in value compared to the previous month, while compared to September 2018, they rise 9% in volume and fall 2% in value.
