Prices
The average price of frozen mackerel (HS 030354000) was JPY 284/kg at Japanese Customs in May, up 14% on that of April and up 29% on that of May 2018. During the first five months, it averaged JPY 253/kg, up 20% on that of the same period in the previous year.

Markets
Japanese imports of mackerel (HS 0303.54.000) reached 3,063 tonnes, worth JPY 870 million CIF at Japanese Customs. These figures are down 33% in volume and 24% in value on those of the previous month and down 22% in volume and similar in value on those of May 2019.

In the period, exports reached 34,020 tonnes and JPY 8,611 million, up 18% in volume and 42% in value compared to the same period of 2018.

The 88% of imports of the year came from Norway, 27,242 tonnes.
