On Galician markets, during December, total volumes of auctioned shellfish declined by 250 tonnes. The most important decline was reported by cockles. The most important increase was reported by manila clam.
In 2017, auctions amounted to almost 11,000 tonnes of shellfish, up 1,200 tonnes on those of 2016. The main species were manila clam with 3,100 tonnes, up 500 tonnes on those of 2016, and cockles with 2,900 tonnes, up 900 tonnes on those of last year.

On Mercabarna, in December, total shellfish volumes increased by 203 tonnes, compared with the previous month. The most important rise was that in fresh oysters. The most important volumes were those of fresh mussel and fresh oyster.
On Mercamadrid, in December, total volume of shellfish increased by 81%, compared with the previous month. The most important increases were those in fresh mussels, fresh clams and fresh cockles. The most significant drop was registered in frozen mussels.

Italy
At Italian ports, shellfish volumen increased in the case of stone crab and declined in the rest of species during December. The main ports were Ancona, Goro and San Benedetto del Tronto.

Spain
On Galician markets, during December, the price of manila clam increased by EUR 1.00/kg, from that of November. That of cockles declined by EUR 1.89/kg, compared with November. The most important increases were those in barnacle and European locust lobster. The most significant drop was registered in cockles, one of the few species that reported a drop.

On Mercabarna, prices of the most important species considering volumes remained in the case of mussels, increased in oysters and dropped slightly in rock mussel. In December, the most important drop was registered in European lobster, by EUR 0.48/kg. The most significant rises were registered in spiny lobster, by EUR 29.14/kg; Galician barnacle, by EUR 17.68/kg and fresh Norway lobster by EUR 12.59/kg.
On Mercamadrid, in December, prices of frozen shellfish remained stable. Fresh species registered a rise in national barnacle, by EUR 107.50/kg, compared with November. There was also an important increase in Norway lobster, grooved carpet shell, large European lobster, import velvet swimcrab and striped venus. The only drop was that in lobster.
