Job growth shows an interesting gender dynamic. Male employment registered an increase of 38.37%, while female employment grew 20.75%.
This increase in the workforce suggests a significant expansion of the sector's activities, driven by an increase in demand for canned tuna and loins in the European Union market. At the same time, the Ecuadorian industrial sector, with CEIPA member companies at the forefront, has played a crucial role in the approval of the IDEA Law with the United States. This legislation would mark a historic milestone for Ecuadorian trade, as it will allow more than 4,000 products from the country, including canned tuna in glass and cans, to enter the US market free of tariffs. The approval of the IDEA Law would generate even greater demand for Ecuadorian tuna products, driving an additional increase in jobs within the sector.
The increase in employment also has positive implications for the economy of the province of Manabí, where 70% of the Ecuadorian processing industry is installed. In addition, this growth helps the social sustainability of the collaborators and promotes the project “Improvement of the Quality of Life”, which CEIPA promotes with its member companies.
