Anchovy fishing recorded an advance of 58.79% of the total quota, landing 1 million 634 thousand 303 tons, according to data as of December 23 provided by the Ministry of Production (Produce).
Landings have been made at a rate of 39,581 tons per day, since the season began on November 12, which establishes a catch of 2 million 780 thousand tons as total catch.
The main fishing areas were La Libertad and Áncash, regions that concentrate 64.8% of landings in the ports of Malabrigo (31.2%), Coisho (11.6%), Chimbote (20.8%) and Samanco (1.2%), respectively.
The unloadings were made by 708 authorized vessels and inspected by inspectors accredited by the Ministry of Production.
Positive closure
On the other hand, for the end of 2020, a growth of the Fishing and Aquaculture GDP of around 2.6% is expected, supported by the increase in the catch of anchovy for indirect human consumption (+ 19.5%).

The advance will be tempered by the lower disembarkation of resources for direct human consumption (-8.0%), as predicted by the Office of Impact Evaluation and Economic Studies (OGEIEE) of the Ministry of Production.

Likewise, the positive result in indirect consumption is due to the anchovy fishing during the first season 2020 in the north-central zone, which closed with 2.37 million tons, a volume higher by 21.7% compared to 2019. Like the second season, whose fishing limit is 2.78 million tons, with this, it is expected to close the year with a fishing of 4.0 million tons.
Only in October the landings of fishery resources grew 46.3%, accumulating five months of positive results. The catch amounted to 154 thousand 500 tons, being 48 thousand 900 tons higher than the recorded in October 2019, due to the greater extractive activity of fishing resources destined for direct human consumption (CHD) such as mackerel (+ 1268.4%), bonito (+ 156.0%), squid (+ 106.1%) and anchovy (+ 55.1%).
