Lista Salmon, a subsidiary of EcoFishCircle, has now received the green light from Agder County Municipality to establish a land-based salmon farm of 6,000 tonnes at Lista fly- and business park in Farsund municipality. Land-based aquaculture represents a significant opportunity for growth within Norwegian fish farming. Lista Laks will use an already existing industrial area to minimize environmental impact and promote a circular economy in collaboration with, among other things, protein production, biogas production and agriculture.

The project is strategically located in a region with unique natural conditions for green industry. This initiative is an example of how industrial synergies and innovative solutions can create valuable jobs and contribute to regional development.
Ecofishcircle AS ("EFC") develops technology for land-based fish farming, consisting of modular farming tanks with a minimal environmental footprint, high fish welfare and good growth. Through its subsidiary Lista Laks, the company has now obtained a license for a facility at the Lista aviation and business park, which contributes to the utilization of existing commercial areas without affecting untouched nature.
The company's general manager, Smiljana Divjak, states that she is very satisfied with this award. "We appreciate this declaration of confidence from the sector authorities and value their ability to assess our quality at all stages of the value chain. With the ongoing debate related to the farming industries in general and the opportunities that can lie in sustainable facilities on land, this project will be a good demonstration for the entire industry, politicians and the policy apparatus. The next step will be to find investors and partners who will join us in building ''a showcase for future food production''.
"This is important both regionally and nationally. We need new, environmentally friendly ways of producing food. That is why we are developing the Lista Laks project. Please contact us if you have any questions or would like to visit our pilot plant."
Proprietary technology:
The plant is built with the company's own developed technology, EFC MRAS, which in a cost-effective way ensures good fish welfare and growth, while at the same time reducing biological risk and energy consumption. The technology has been developed and tested at Hausvik in Lyngdal municipality with very good results. These are closed facilities with low mortality without escapes and without salmon lice.

Circular economy in practice:
Land-based farming in recycling facilities contributes to the establishment of exciting circular value chains.
Sludge and nutrient salts from the production will be sent to a biogas plant, operated by Vireo Biogass. From the biogas production, biofertilizer will also be produced for use in agriculture in the region. Furthermore, EFC's sister company Gas 2 Feed AS is developing new technology for protein production based on CO2 and renewable energy. Gas 2 Feed will thus contribute with local protein production, based on CO2 from the breeding facility and biogas production. The processes also create opportunities for interaction with algae production, aquaponics and utilization of residual heat from other industries.

The expansion of the number of standard modules on Lista is only limited by permits, and the site offers opportunities for larger expansions in the long term. The modular concept makes EFC technology considerably more flexible than any other land-based farming system.Photo: Lista Laks
At full production, the plant will contribute to 30-50 direct jobs including its own slaughterhouse to ensure the highest quality of the final product and high utilization of residual raw materials.
About EcoFishCircle:
EcoFishCircle AS ("EFC") is a technology company that develops land-based farming solutions. EFC will establish a new type of land-based salmon farming based on its own solutions. In collaboration with sister company Gas 2 Feed, the company will significantly reduce the climate footprint from aquaculture. EFC operates a test facility at Hausvik, Lyngdal and is planning a production facility at Lista (Norway). At Hausvik, the new technology and concept will be verified, while Lista will demonstrate the complete circular farming concept on a commercial scale. The pilot plant has produced very promising results over 2 years with good growth, 1.5% mortality in operation and over 95% superior rate at the slaughterhouse, completely without salmon lice.

About Lista Laks:
Lista Laks AS is a subsidiary of Ecofishcircle. The farming facility where a license has been obtained will consist of 26 independent m-RAS modules, with associated smolt production and slaughterhouse. Planned annual production is 6,000 tonnes of salmon. The salmon from Lista will be sold under a separate brand that reflects the unique improvements such as food safety, fish welfare, traceability and sustainability.
