The Barents Sea area increased the volume of fish catches and exports

In the Murmansk region, in the first six months of 2020, the volume of fish catch increased. It amounted to 339.4 thousand tons, which is 1.5% compare previous year. This is evidenced by the data of the report of the regional ministry of economic development of the region.
For the main commercial fish species, there was an increase in haddock production by 1.4 times compared to January-June 2019, blue whiting - by 5.9%. On the contrary, the cod catch decreased by 2.6%.
And the volume of production (growing) of marketable fish by enterprises in the first half of 2020 amounted to 22 thousand tons, which is 10% more than the same period last year.
In the same period the Rosselkhoznadzor in the Murmansk Region issued for export about 80 thousand tons of fish and products from the Barents Sea, produced by Murmansk coastal fish processing enterprises and fishing vessels.
According to the ministry, most of the products - 63 thousand tons are sent to the countries of the European Union, which amounted to 76% of all exported products.
About 17 thousand tons were exported to other countries - China, Nigeria, USA, Faroe Islands and Japan and 1237 veterinary accompanying documents were issued. 865 transport units were examined in order to control the compliance of the vehicle with the established veterinary and sanitary requirements, - explained in the regional Rosselkhoznadzor.
The main types of exported products are frozen cod, haddock and frozen cod fillets - 67.8 thousand tons were processed. Among other goods, one can single out crab, shrimp and halibut - 12.2 thousand tons were processed.
It is noted that today the main export destinations for fish and fish products in the Barents Sea are the EU countries and China
