AquaChile obtains ASC certification for salmon center in Magallanes

AquaChile's "Brazo de Guardramiro" salmon farming center, located in the area of the same name, in the Natales jurisdiction of the Magallanes Region, has obtained the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certification.
This center, where Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) is grown, is the first of the company in the Magallanes Region that obtains this certification. With this new certification, AquaChile already has 45 farming centers certified by ASC throughout the country.
"This certification reflects our company's commitment to sustainability in the long term and is the result of teamwork in different areas of AquaChile. I want to highlight in particular the dedication of the entire team of Magallanes who worked hard for this," said José Manuel Schwerter, production manager of AquaChile.
The company emphasizes that the ASC standards are the most demanding in environmental social matters and are mainly related to good production and operation practices; compliance with national and sanitary laws, as well as the evaluation and compliance of environmental aspects; labor compliance; evaluation of the social environment and integration with the surrounding community.
The process to achieve certification of the Brazo de Guardramiro salmon farming center lasted three months.
