Ocean Fish to acquire controlling interest in business partner

The Directors of Ocean Fish (Vistgate Limited) have reached an agreement with W Stevenson & Sons Limited to acquire a controlling interest in the business, subject to legal due diligence.
The families of both businesses have traded and known each other for many years and look forward toan exciting future together, Ocean Fish highlted.
“The Lakeman and Stevenson families hold very similar views on the importance of maintaining a vibrant and prosperous fishing industry in Cornwall. We see this transaction asachieving a long-held ambition of bringing both families together to deliverthis goal," said Leigh Genge, Managing Director of Ocean Fish.
Chairman of W Stevenson & Sons, Chris Rhodes, added: “The synergies resulting from the combination of these two historic businesses will benefit the entire community of Newlyn, the Cornish fishing industryand the wider supply chainas a whole.”
Roche-based Ocean Fish are a family-owned fishing and processing import-export business with a heritage dating back to 1740.
Founded in the 19th century, W. Stevenson & Sons operates one of the largest beam trawler fishing fleet in Europe from its home port of Newlyn.
