Astilleros Murueta will soon begin the construction of two high-tech freezer factory ships for Greenlander shipowner Royal Greenland.
The vessels, which will be classified as having high ice strength, will be used for the fishing, processing and freezing of shrimp and fish in the Arctic.
The two trawlers will be 82 meters in length and will have a ramp on the stern. In addition, they will have a modern factory for the processing and freezing of the product, fully automated and with the most advanced technology.
According to the company based in the Basque Country, the highest possible standards of safety for the crew and for all types of operations and weather conditions have been taken into account for their design. In addition, ships comply with the latest environmental regulations.
The completion of the construction of the two new ships is scheduled for February and July 2019.
Royal Greenland is a Greenlandic Government company that has subsidiaries in several countries around the world.
The Murueta group, founded in 1943, now has two shipyards, one in the Ria de Urdaibai (Murueta) and the other in Ria de Bilbao (Erandio), and employs about 500 workers.
