Through an order published in the Official Gazette, the Secretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture has suspended 305 registration certificates of lobster vessels in Ceara for 30 days.
The director of Fisheries and Aquaculture Monitoring and Control, Marcio Candido Alves, explained that this measure responds to the recommendations of the Federal Public Ministry and the Ministry of Labour to inspect these vessels in order to combat ghost vessels (without registration) or cloned ones, and illegal fishing.
In the event that the vessels are not regularized within the period of the two set months, the measure will go from the suspension to the cancellation of the records.
The holders of fishing licenses should request the Federal Superintendency of Agriculture (SFA) in Fortaleza to contact them with the Fisheries and Aquaculture Coordination to schedule a complete inspection of the vessels, including the fishing gear used for lobsters. After completing this step, they will be able to obtain the certification document issued by the maritime authority, an action that will be carried out jointly with the Navy.
