Official presentation of the new brand of 'The sustainable tuna of Ecuador'

"The sustainable tuna of Ecuador" is the brand that was presented yesterday June 20 in Manta, in the framework of the 4th Regional Tuna Forum, which takes place in Manta. The event takes place at the Wyndham Sail Plaza hotel under the organization of the Ecuadorian Chamber of Tuna Industrialists and Processors (Ceipa), and the United Nations Organization for Food and Agriculture (FAO). The sectoral brand is one of the added values of the product that is offered to consumers inside and outside the country.

Gustavo Núñez, president of Ceipa, recalled that FAO invited Ecuador to host and organize the forum eight years ago. The businessman stressed that the appointment is the opportunity to know the good practices of the sea processing industry. The "Sustainable Tuna" brand will receive the product that is elaborated in those industries that comply meticulously with the established standards in the value chain.
Mónica Maldonado, executive secretary of the Chamber, said that at the 4th Tuna Sustainability Forum there are experts from FAO, the International Trade Center of Spain, the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (CIAT), and Ecuadorian authorities. The Vice Minister of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Catalina Cárdenas, said that the Government is working together with the productive sector on policies aimed at strengthening fishing activity.
The event also includes the international culinary promotion, Taste Ecuador and the Golden Tuna Award, said Cristina Cantos, from the gastronomy school of Manabí. Tuna-based dishes are prepared in different presentations such as the famous dish known as viche. Chefs from Ecuador, Spain, Italy and the United States will be present at the Manabi port.
