CNA Discusses Initiatives for the Aquaculture Chain
BRAZIL
Monday, March 25, 2024, 01:00 (GMT + 9)
The CNA National Aquaculture Commission discussed initiatives to improve the production chain at a meeting on Wednesday (20).
The president of the commission, Francisco Hidalgo Farina, stated that creating an action plan is essential to organize demands and define priorities.
“We want to bring stability to the chain in relation to health, production quality and, consequently, the market. In a chain that is still so small, the possibility of growth is real. Therefore, we need to stabilize the production chain and improve production costs.”
The regularization of health protocols for fish imports is one of the actions for 2024.
“The initiative aims to guarantee the health of animals in the face of the introduction of exotic or emerging diseases in Brazil and the quality of the product that reaches the consumer's table”, explained the commission's advisor, Kalinka Koza.
The commission also discussed environmental licensing, technical training and initiatives for the shrimp farming (shrimp farming) and mariculture (shellfish production) sectors.
The commission included the participation of representatives from the states' agriculture and livestock federations, the general director of Aquaculture and Fisheries at Embrapa, Daniele Bem Ruiz, and the general coordinator of the Aquaculture and Fisheries Secretariat of the Ministry of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Luciene Mignani.
