Small pelagic catch sizes established in the Pacific and the Gulf of California

The National Commission of Aquaculture and Fisheries (Conapesca), based on the technical opinion of the National Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Inapesca), established 140 millimeters in standard length as the minimum catch size of sardine crinuda (Opisthonema spp) for the region Southern Gulf of California.
As published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), for the rest of the species and fishing areas, the provisions of the Official Mexican Standard NOM-003-SAG / PESC-2018 are maintained, to regulate the use of species of smaller pelagic fish with purse-seine vessels in waters under federal jurisdiction of the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of California, published in the federal dissemination body on March 12, 2019.
In the same way, the following maximum permitted percentages are established below the minimum catch sizes applicable to the total annual nominal catch volume of each of the species:
a) 33% for Monterrey sardine (Sardinops sagax)
b) 38% for the sardine 'crinuda '(Opisthonema spp)
c) 46% for anchovy (Engraulis mordax)
The provisions of this agreement are mandatory for licensees, dealers, captains and / or fishing patterns, motorcyclists, operators, technicians, fishermen, crew members and other subjects who carry out fishing activities in marine waters of federal jurisdiction.
