Chilean seafood imports fell 50%

By October 2019, the total quantity of seafood imported from Chile was 18,419 tons, down about 50% from 37,486 tons in the same period last year.

The total amount of imports from all countries was 818,608 tons, of which 18,419 tons were imported from Chile, accounting for about 2.3% of total imports.

The most imported fish species in Chile were frozen Giant Squid (fillet), which was imported 5,515 tons, down about 61% from 14,444 tons last year.

The frozen Pacific salmon imports 3,702 tons, up about 31% from 2,815 tons last year,

The frozen Giant squid (wing) was imported at 3,003 tons, down about 68% from 9,557 tons in the previous year,

The frozen Atlantic salmon imported 2,680 tons, down about 46% from 4,965 tons a year earlier.

For reference, 1 case of failures in inspection of Chile fishes products occurred by frozen Sea Cucumber this year, and the amount of it was to be about 16.11 tons
