New LifeStart Line and Innovative Feeds Signal Skretting's Commitment to China's Aquaculture.

Zhuhai – Skretting China has marked a significant expansion of its operations with the grand opening of a new, dedicated LifeStart production line in Zhuhai – the company's first such facility in Asia. Coinciding with this milestone, Skretting China also launched five new, innovative hatchery feed products tailored for a diverse range of aquaculture species, including salmon, tilapia, golden pompano, snakehead, and catfish.

This double celebration underscores Skretting's strong confidence in the future growth of China's aquaculture industry and its commitment to supporting its long-term development. Recognizing China as the world's largest animal protein market, where seafood holds the second-largest share after pork, Skretting and its parent company Nutreco have strategically increased their production capabilities to specifically serve the crucial LifeStart segment. This move aims to position Skretting as the leading value-driven nutrition provider in the Chinese market.

“China stands out as one of the most dynamic and competitive markets globally, not only in terms of scale but also in the rapid pace of development, the diversity of cultivated species, and the evolving needs of our customers. Within the global Nutreco organization, China is playing an increasingly strategic role as a key market,” stated Bastiaan van Tilburg, CEO of Skretting. He further emphasized the company's ambitious goals for this sector: “Our ambition in LifeStart in China is high. We aim to be the undisputed leader in this space by 2030, particularly for salmonids, shrimp, and marine fish.”

LifeStart products are specialized feed solutions provided to larvae and juveniles during their initial critical months. These feeds are designed to positively influence the overall quality and success rate of aquaculture farming throughout the entire production cycle. Furthermore, LifeStart feeds can be administered to parent broodstock to enhance the quality and yield of egg production. Skretting China's new range of LifeStart products specifically targets key challenges prevalent in China's aquaculture industry, such as weak fry resilience, susceptibility to disease, and slow growth rates.

“We believe Skretting is exceptionally well-positioned to capitalize on the significant opportunities in China and across greater Asia. This is because the aquaculture industry in the region is demonstrably shifting towards more advanced, sustainable, and performance-oriented farming practices,” commented Jason Yang, General Manager of Nutreco China. “Customers are increasingly seeking more precise nutritional solutions, enhanced health support for their stock, and trusted, reliable brands. These evolving demands perfectly align with Skretting’s established global strengths.”
