A sensor fish has been developed that can contribute to knowledge of the physical conditions that fish are exposed to in different treatments and thus can contribute to more gentle handling
Salmon in the sea undergo a great deal of handling in today's production, especially in connection with de-seeding, and there is therefore a need to develop objective methods to know what the fish is exposed to when undergoing these treatments. Desalination in today's salmon farming is largely with non-medicinal methods such as for example hot water, pressure, flushing and fresh water. This means that the fish are needed and pumped into the various systems where they undergo treatment before being pumped back into the cage.
