Atlantic mackerel (Scomber scombrus)
Prices
The average price of frozen mackerel (HS 030354000) was JPY 250/kg at Japanese Customs in April, down 5% on that of March and up 15% on that of April 2018. In the first quarter of the year averages JPY 250 / kg, 20% more than in the same period last year.

Markets
Japanese imports of mackerel (HS 0303.54.000) reached 4,597 tonnes, worth JPY 1,147 million CIF at Japanese Customs. These figures are up 64% in volume and 56% in value on those of the previous month and up 23% in volume and 42% in value on those of April 2019.

In the quarter, exports reached 30,957 tonnes and JPY 7,741 million, up 24% in volume and 49% in value compared to the same period of 2018.

The 88% of imports of the year came from Norway, 27,242 tonnes.
