Mowi ASA (OSE: MOWI02), formerly Marine Harvest and previously Panfish, is one of the largest seafood companies in the world, and the world’s largest producer of Atlantic salmon. The company employs 13 233 people, and is represented in 25 countries. In 2017 the company had a turnover of EUR 3.6 billion. Marine Harvest is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange (OSE) and its share also trade on the US OTC market.
Mowi supplies healthy, delicious and sustainably farmed salmon and processed seafood to more than 70 markets worldwide. The company is present and trusted in all major salmon farming regions in the world. In 2017 harvest volumes of salmon was 370 000 tonnes (GWT).
Mowi’s main secondary processed product is smoked salmon, and the largest factory is found in Poland. they also process several other species such as whitefish and flatfish into ready meals or packed in modified atmosphere products (MAP).
March 2018 - Salmon farmer Marine Harvest is currently developing its brand Supreme Salmon in Taiwan, working with local top chefs and promoting on social media.
Mowi aims to implement a franchise concept for its Supreme Salmon restaurants in Taiwan, Hong Kong and mainland China.
By 2025, the firm is planning to open 2,000 restaurants there, selling 40,000 metric tons of head-on, gutted (HOG) Atlantic salmon and generating a turnover of $2 billion.
Mowi Japan developed a fast-food salmon restaurant called Mowi Salmon Store.
Under this brand he also sells products in ready-to-cook portions and his products can be found on the Mowi website.
04-12-2018 - The Extraordinary General Meeting in Marine Harvest ASA was held on 4 December. The general meeting passed the following resolution:
"Effective 1 January 2019, the company's name is changed to Mowi ASA and article 1 of the articles of association shall be changed to the following: 'The name of the company is Mowi ASA. The company is a public limited company.'"
