The average CIF price at Customs of Japanese imports of Alaskan Pollock surimi (Theragra chalcograma) in September 2018 was JPY 331/kg, up 4% on that of the previous month and up 12% on that of September 2017. The average price at Customs of itoyori surimi during the analysed month was JPY 339/kg, down 3% on that of the previous month and up 1% on that of September 2017.

Markets
During this month, Japanese Customs showed that surimi imports totalled 17,781 tonnes, worth JPY 5,866 million.
These figures are up 47% in volume and 52% in value on those of the previous month and down 18% in volume and 10% in value on those of September 2017.

In the seven months of the year, imports totalled 100,307 tonnes and JPY 32,820 million, down 10% in volume and up 5% in value on those of the same period in 2017.

In the period, imports of Alaskan pollock (Theragra chalcograma) surimi totalled 80,536 tonnes and JPY 26,551 million, down 15% in volume and up 1% in value on those of the same period in 2017. Imports of itoyori surimi reached 14,770 tonnes and JPY 4.932 million, up 6% in volume and 9% in value on those of the previous year.
Imports of other surimis (Pacific cod) were up 118%, 5,001 tonnes.
Almost all Alaskan pollock (Theragra chalcograma) surimi came from the US and itoyori surimi from India (5.530 tonnes) and Thailand (5,022 tonnes).
