The average CIF price at Customs of Japanese imports of Alaskan Pollock surimi (Theragra chalcograma) in October 2018 was JPY 352/kg, up 7% on that of the previous month and 21% on that of October 2017. The average price at Customs of itoyori surimi during the analysed month was JPY 345/kg, up 2% on that of the previous month and 5% on that of October 2017.

Markets
During this month, Japanese Customs showed that surimi imports totalled 20,418 tonnes, worth JPY 7,139 million.
These figures are up 15% in volume and 22% in value on those of the previous month and up 7% in volume and 27% in value on those of October 2017.

In the ten months of the year, imports totalled 120,724 tonnes and JPY 39,958 million, down 7% in volume and up 8% in value on those of the same period in 2017.

In the period, imports of Alaskan pollock (Theragra chalcograma) surimi totalled 98,893 tonnes and JPY 33,021 million, down 11% in volume and up 6% in value on those of the same period in 2017. Imports of itoyori surimi reached 16,299 tonnes and J JPY 5,460 million, up 1% in volume and up 4% in value on those of the previous year.
Imports of other surimis (Pacific cod) were up 106%, 5,532 tonnes.
Alaskan pollock (Theragra chalcograma) surimi came almost all from the US and itoyori surimi from India (5,880 tonnes) and Thailand (5,727 tonnes).
