AKVA group is actively developing further AI modules focused on growth forecasting, feed optimization, and lice management

Simplify Feeding Operations with the New Fishtalk 5

  (NORWAY, 4/14/2025)

Unlock Efficiency and Insight in Your Daily Feeding

How can technology streamline your everyday feeding operations? AKVA group's latest launch, Fishtalk 5, along with its AI-powered solutions Submerged and Observe, provides fast access to critical data, enabling more efficient planning and better real-time decisions. The ultimate goal: less time managing systems and more time focused on your fish.

Fishtalk is a well-established leader in the aquaculture industry, holding a significant 60 percent market share. Recent, major upgrades have directly addressed key challenges, as Lars Martin Sandvik Aas, General Manager of Submerged at AKVA group, explains: "Past issues with speed and system stability are now resolved. Our migration to a new hosting solution and the overall system upgrade have resulted in a faster and more reliable platform. Reports now load within seconds, system performance is significantly improved, and support requests have been halved."

Introducing AKVA fishtalk 5: A New Era of Data-Driven Feeding

AKVA group recently launched AKVA fishtalk 5, a new cloud-based platform engineered for enhanced robustness, security, open data access, and seamless integration with AKVA group’s comprehensive suite of digital tools. Combined with AI-driven solutions like Submerged and Observe, Fishtalk 5 forms a powerful decision-support system for optimizing feeding practices and improving fish welfare.

"With Fishtalk 5, we are providing open APIs and unlocking the entire data set," emphasizes Sandvik Aas. "This empowers our customers with complete control over their data and the ability to automate their workflows."

See the Future of Feeding: Join Our Webinar

Discover how technology and artificial intelligence can revolutionize your feeding routine. AKVA group invites you to join their webinar (in Norwegian) on April 24th from 12:00–13:00 to learn how Fishtalk 5, Submerged, and Observe deliver greater insight, enhanced control, and more time to focus on your fish.

Fishtalk 5: Real-Time Data for Optimal Decisions

Feeding is fundamentally about decision-making. Fishtalk 5 provides real-time data, historical trends, and actionable recommendations, ready for immediate implementation in your operations. Integrated with Submerged and Observe, it establishes a strong foundation for optimization without the need for additional manual effort.

Fishtalk 5 seamlessly connects with other key systems such as Connect 4, Submerged, and Observe. Data from sensors, biomass assessments, weight distribution analysis, and sea lice monitoring are automatically recorded and presented within a unified interface.

"We've built everything on open APIs to ensure a seamless flow of data across all systems, significantly simplifying the workday," states Sandvik Aas.

Observe: AI-Powered Instant Feeding Insights

Observe is an intelligent feeding assistant that analyzes fish behavior and delivers real-time alerts using existing camera infrastructure – no new equipment required. This provides clear and immediate insights into fish feeding responses.

Stein Hegvik, feeding consultant at AKVA group, highlights the benefits: "Our experience demonstrates lower Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), improved growth rates, and immediate feedback for the feeder."

The system also enhances planning and documentation, reducing reliance on manual routines. This results in greater control over feeding, reduced feed waste, and improved overall fish welfare.

Hegvik also notes the importance of user adoption: "For new technology to succeed, both feeders and management must be involved from the outset. This fosters ownership, improves communication, and ultimately generates more value."

The Future: More AI and Automation

AKVA group is actively developing further AI modules focused on growth forecasting, feed optimization, and lice management.

"With Fishtalk 5 as our core platform, we are building the next generation of decision support tools – tightly integrated with Observe, Submerged, and Connect 4," concludes Sandvik Aas. "This will bring critical data and actionable insights directly into daily feeding operations, precisely where value is created."
