Nova Sea AS is the largest producer of farmed salmon in Northern Norway, with 29.33 licenses and part ownership in six licenses.

The company's fish-farming facilities lie along the full length of the coast of Helgeland - surrounded by cold, clear water and a magnificent unspoiled landscape.

Nova Sea's commitment is to produce a salmon whose natural requirements have been properly maintained. Surveillance of its activities with attention to the environment is a key factor, to ensure the future of its activities in cold, clean water and pristine surroundings.

Nova Sea works hard and ceaselessly in at all stages of production to preserve and improve the quality of the salmon they produce - from smolt to the delivery to its customers.

All products are delivered with full traceability.

Responsible long-term planning and predictability are key elements in Nova Sea's vision. Although the company has a strong focus on efficiency and operating costs, it never compromises to the detriment of quality or the environment with the aim of increasing short-term profitability.

For Nova Sea it’s all about harvesting from the facilities while achieving an ideal balance between biology and the environment.

The company sells around 30,000,000 kilos of "œsmart food" annually, constantly focusing in safety and health of its products. Nova Sea has developed continuous monitoring systems that ensure that the products conform to high standards.

The company's main customer base is corporate customers that purchase fresh or frozen whole salmon. All products are delivered with full traceability, documentation of nutritional content, and to the venue designated by the customer.

About Nova Sea

The founders of Nova Sea AS were amongst the pioneers in the farming of Atlantic Salmon in the early 1970s. There was a good deal of trials and mistakes in the beginning of what became a long and exciting fairy-tale. The will to try out innovative solutions and carry out numerous of experiments has through more than 40 years developed Nova Sea into the company it is today.

 The company sells around 30,000,000 kilos of salmon products annually.

Steinar Olaisen was salmon pioneer and founder of Nova Sea, he passed away in 2011. The company continues to be run in accordance with his basic principles of honesty, integrity and moderation, with full focus on quality. He is supported by a team of employees that over the course of 40 years have acquired a wealth of experience and expertise in this demanding field.

Nova Sea currently counts 170 employees.

Nova Sea has average annual turnover of NOK 1000 million. This positions the company as one of the largest at the coast of Helgeland. Its production facilities are located in 11 municipalities along the extensive Helgeland coastline.

The administration and industrial facilities are situated at the island of Lovund in the Municipality of Lurøy. All harvest and packing is accommodated here prior to distribution into our domestic and international markets.

The Lovund-based company Vigner Olaisen AS is the largest owner with approximately 51% of the shares, Marine Harvest owns approximately 42%, and 7% of the shares are owned by employees.
