Skretting keeps increasing transparency in latest sustainability report

  (NORWAY, 5/31/2023)

Underpinned by the sustainability pillars of health and welfare, climate and circularity, and good citizenship as defined in RoadMap 2025, Skretting has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to sustainable practices and responsible business operations. The latest sustainability report presents a detailed account of the company's efforts in these areas, solidifying its position as an industry trailblazer.

"We are thrilled to unveil our most transparent sustainability report to date," says Therese Log Bergjord, Skretting CEO. "We recognise the urgent need for accountability and action and this report showcases our steadfast commitment to transparency. It outlines the progress we have made in achieving our ambitious sustainability goals, while also issuing calls to action to ourselves, our suppliers, our customers, and our peers."

The sustainability report provides a comprehensive breakdown of the company's scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon footprint, offering stakeholders a detailed understanding of Skretting’s climate impact throughout its entire value chain.

"We recognise the urgent need for accountability and action and this report showcases our steadfast commitment to transparency,," says Therese Log Bergjord.

According to Jorge Diaz, Skretting Global Sustainability Manager, "by disclosing scope 1, 2, and 3 absolute emissions in line with our early adoption of Science-Based Targets back in 2020, we aim to create a benchmark for accountability and inspire other companies within the aquaculture sector to follow suit. But this goes beyond reporting on numbers. We elaborate on what is behind our emissions, what’s going well and what needs to be improved, and also provide practical examples of what this means for the feed delivered to our customers.”

“But our sustainability story cannot be written only by ourselves. That’s why in addition to our internal colleagues, we invited customers, suppliers, certification bodies and other partners to share their views on the challenges that we face and the opportunities that we can embrace to accelerate the progress that we need to make as an industry. We need each other and we are all accountable,” ends Díaz.

"By disclosing scope 1, 2, and 3 absolute emissions in line with our early adoption of Science-Based Targets back in 2020, we aim to create a benchmark for accountability and inspire other companies within the aquaculture sector to follow suit"

The sustainability report highlights key achievements in each of the company's core sustainability pillars. Through initiatives centered around climate and circularity, Skretting has made significant strides in quantifying greenhouse gas emissions, promoting circular economy principles, and improving traceability throughout its supply chain. With an additional focus on health and welfare, Skretting has implemented innovative practices to ensure the well-being of both humans and aquatic species. Lastly, as part of its commitment to good citizenship, Skretting actively engages with local communities, supporting social initiatives and promoting sustainable practices.

The sustainability report is an invitation for stakeholders and industry professionals to delve deeper into Skretting's sustainable journey. It provides a wealth of information on the company's achievements, targets, and ongoing initiatives, all aimed at creating a more sustainable and resilient aquaculture industry.
