VIET NAM
Monday, March 31, 2025

Hà Tinh province has experienced a 4% growth in its aquaculture production during the first quarter of 2025, reaching more than 3,400 tons, as reported by Nguyen Tam from HTTV.

This increase is distributed between freshwater aquaculture, with more than 2,000 tons, and brackish water aquaculture, with nearly 1,400 tons. To achieve the aquaculture production target of more than 17,500 tons in 2025, the specialized sector and local authorities are implementing strategies focused on increasing added value and promoting sustainable development.

Key strategies include:

  • Promoting concentrated production methods.
  • Improving cultivation infrastructure, especially in shrimp farming areas.
  • Transitioning from extensive and semi-intensive shrimp farming to intensive farming.
  • Increasing the application of scientific and technological advances in production.
  • Conducting environmental inspections and monitoring in agricultural areas, seed production facilities, food companies, and environmental treatment products.

These measures seek to optimize production, minimize risks, and ensure the long-term sustainability of the aquaculture sector in Hà Tinh.

Other Media | Industrias Pesqueras: British fishermen urge the Government not to capitulate to European Union threats

UNITED KINGDOM
Monday, March 31, 2025

With the imminent termination of the Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the United Kingdom and the EU, the British National Federation of Producer Organizations (NFFO) has issued a press release assessing the agreement and outlining its terms. “The TCA was an astonishingly good deal for the EU. The agreement made by Boris Johnson's government fell far short of what was promised,” the organization denounces, believing that the expectations placed on Brexit, specifically the idea that “the United Kingdom would become an independent coastal state,” were “undermined” by the permission granted for European vessels to fish in UK waters up to 6 miles from our coast.

Other Media | WorldFishing: Frozen fish sorting – 3D sensor technology leads the way

UNITED STATES
Monday, March 31, 2025

Processing, sorting and categorising fish are essential steps in the seafood industry, helping to ensure that fish are sorted in a way that maximises their economic value, and that only the best quality fish are sold to consumers.

However, performing these steps manually can be challenging. For example, manual sorting relies heavily on workers’ skills and judgement, which can potentially lead to inconsistencies in product size and weight. The work is also time- and labour-intensive, especially when large quantities are involved. There is also a high risk of contamination. With more hands required to hasten the manual sorting process, the risk becomes higher, compromising product safety and hygiene, and reducing the quality of products that are released to the market.
