Ocean Arks Tech Reaches a Major Milestone with Its Revolutionary Oceanic Aquaculture Technology

Ocean Arks Tech (OATECH), the Chilean company pioneering ocean aquaculture innovation, has taken a key step toward consolidating its technology

Puerto Montt – Ocean Arks Tech, a pioneering Chilean company in oceanic aquaculture technology, has achieved a historic milestone after six years of rigorous patent proceedings in the United States. On December 31, 2024, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) granted the company invention patent N°US12,178,194 B2.

This positions Ocean Arks Tech among the few companies worldwide with patented technology of this scale for aquaculture and potentially as the first in Latin America's history to achieve.

Rodrigo Sánchez Raccaro, the inventor and one of the company’s founders, shared insights into the challenging process, stating: "It was a long and complex journey. Our process started even earlier, but we faced significant obstacles along the way. Initially, we encountered challenges with deadlines during the international phase and later had to completely reformulate the application with the support of new advisors just to have a chance. The larger the invention, the more preexisting patents you encounter, especially in the United States, the country with the most patent filings in the world".

Today, Ocean Arks Tech holds a valuable intellectual property asset that positions the company for entry into one of the world’s most significant seafood markets and potentially the most promising aquaculture market in the Americas.

The company's oceanic aquaculture vessel is a state-of-the-art system designed for fully autonomous operations in remote coastal areas as well as international waters. By consistently seeking optimal water conditions for the fish, it enhances profitability for producers while addressing critical industry challenges such as sustainability and scalability.
