Nutreco buys animal nutrition company with operations in Canada and the US
(NETHERLANDS, 1/23/2017)
Nutreco announced it has reached an agreement to buy Hi-Pro Feeds, a company dedicated to animal nutrition and feeds with operations in western Canada and the southwestern United States.
The acquisition is subject to regulatory approval both in Canada and the USA and is expected to close in the second half of 2017 at the latest.
Hi-Pro Feeds, headquartered in Okotoks, Alberta, operates fifteen mills that produce complete and specialty feeds, premixes, concentrates and commodity ingredients.
Birch Hill Equity Partners is the majority owner, while the rest of the property belongs to 80 per cent of the company's employees.
“In Canada this acquisition will make us a truly nation-wide animal nutrition company with a good presence in all regions and livestock segments,” Knut Nesse, Nutreco’s CEO, said.
“In the US this deal creates a new base for Nutreco, particularly in the dairy and beef industry in the Southwest,” the executive stressed.
For his part, Daren Kennett, founder of Hi-Pro Feeds, explained, “As a global company, Nutreco has the resources and network available to create additional value for our customers through an expanded offering of proprietary models, products and services.”
