AquaChile seeks to approve USD 340 million capital increase
(CHILE, 7/10/2018)
AquaChile has convened a shareholders meeting to approve a capital increase of USD 340 million, which would allow the company to finance an investment plan and possible acquisitions or mergers.
The shareholders will meet on July 31 to decide on the capital increase and cancel a previous agreement for a smaller amount approved in March.
"With these funds we plan to materialize the purchase of Salmones Magallanes and perform the investment plan that we are developing to take advantage of the growth opportunities and productive improvements that we will make," said Agustín Ugalde, general manager of the company.
In addition, the company plans to quote this year on the Oslo Stock Exchange, Norway, the main market for the salmon industry.
AquaChile is an important player in the global salmon industry. In 2017, it recorded a net profit of USD 58.9 million and a consolidated EBITDA of pre fair value adjustments of USD 141.9 million.
Before knowing the purchase operation of Salmones Magallanes, AquaChile expected to produce this year around 110,000 tonnes of Atlantic salmon, Pacific salmon, trout and tilapia.
