Noray, ultra-fresh and eco-friendly shrimp.

The Shrimp of the Future

  (SPAIN, 5/19/2023)

Founded in 2015, Noray  Seafood works every day to farm, in an entirely natural and sustainable manner, the very best shrimp, additive-free at its farm located at the centre of the Valladolid plateau.

Noray works with passion, effort and commitment to offer a 100% local shrimp, farmed in a sustainable environment. A shrimp with a name of its own, of high culinary value and Spanish soul, through and through.

Noray grows its shrimps in its own farm and in a controlled environment that faithfully reproduces their natural habitat. An innovative farming system that doesn’t use preservatives, or artificial colourings in any stage of the production process.

Following years of investment in R&D, and as a result of the tenacity and perseverance of Noray's team, the company has become a benchmark for sustainable aquaculture in Europe, thanks to the 100% vertical integration of all its production processes.

Noray's biggest secret lies in the fact that it has managed to recreate the perfect natural environment for the farming and reproduction of its shrimps, under an innovative sustainable aquaculture system, which guarantees the correct use of all resources throughout the entire production cycle, thus minimizing its footprint.

The taste and texture of Noray shrimps allow you to enjoy them both raw and cooked, giving rise to the most creative and original recipes. That’s why the Noray shrimp is the favorite one among chefs.

Noray cares about the planet and the people; that is why sustainability is one of the main pillars for the company, and its model has  to be fully efficient and environmentally responsible. The company's goal is to contribute significantly to the development of sustainable aquaculture and the protection of the environment for present and future generations

Noray is a pioneer in Europe. Not only for being the first production company in the world to achieve 100% vertical integration of the production process, from spawning to consumption, but also for the superior quality of its shrimps.

Noray's effort towards sustainability has been recognised with the ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) certification, making us the first indoor shrimps farm in the world to obtain this certification.

Noray guarantees maximum freshness, shrimps are packaged within 1 hour of being caught.

ASC is the only international certification and labelling standard for farmed seafood, in accordance with the ISEAL Alliance (International Social and Environmental Accreditation and Labelling) and is administered following the guidelines of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO). The conditions to obtain this certification require compliance with a series of sustainable and responsible commitments along the whole production process. The ASC logo recognises the company’s commitment to responsible aquaculture and sustainability and guarantees good practices in terms of the environmental and social integrity of the product that bears it, distinguishing it as the best choice among farmed seafood products.

This recognition proves Noray's commitment to responsible aquaculture and sustainability and guarantees good practices in terms of the environmental and social integrity of the product that bears it.

Always respecting its 100% sustainable philosophy for farming shrimps free from additives, Noray's freshly-caught shrimps are cooked using the company's recipe of water, bay leaf and just the right amount of salt, which has been recognized with the TASTE OF THE YEAR 2020 award in Spain.

In addition to optimising all production processes to benefit the environment, Noray Seafood has gone one step further to complete the circular economy cycle, minimising its carbon footprint both in transport and packaging, as well as recycling its waste.

For this reason, Noray's heated pools operate under a low energy consumption and zero waste water recycling system that reuses the water in the tanks so that they don’t discharge salty water into the environment—which would destroy the balance of the ecosystem—and the limited sludge generated in the cultivation process can be reused for agricultural fertilisers.

Noray shrimps have an exceptional flavour and perfect for eating raw, thanks to the sushi-grade quality seal.

Noray is also committed to closing the circular economy and sustainability cycle during transport and in the packaging process, using transparent PET trays—which are easier to reuse than traditional trays—made from recycled cellulose and a “Modified Atmosphere Packaging” system to lengthen the useful life of the product, without damaging its sensory qualities.  As for the shipments, stretched polyethylene (white cork) boxes have been replaced with insulated containers made from thermally recycled FSC-certified cardboard.
