(NORWAY, 8/5/2024)
Mowi are proud to be celebrating 60 years of Mowi!
Sixty years ago, on Norway’s rugged West Coast, a group of visionaries embarked on a journey that forever changed the world of seafood.

Their founders’ ambition was not merely to farm fish, but to completely change the way fish were supplied. In 1964, three men started raising fish outside of Bergen, Norway. This marked the beginning of Mowi’s adventure and a never-ending quest to make better use of the world’s oceans in order to feed a growing global population.
Mowi’s salmon’s heritage begins with the original strong broodstock from the Vosso and Aroy rivers. While Mowi began in the early 1960s, the first eggs hatched during the winter of 1967. The first countries to request our fish were the United States, Japan, and France, and from there, our notion of harnessing the power of the ocean spread quickly around the world.
Mowi’s values and vision have never changed since our humble beginnings. They are proud to maintain complete internal control over their value chain, from farm to fork. Today, they are the world’s largest salmon producer and have been rated the world’s most sustainable animal protein producer. Their persistent dedication to sustainable food production and environmental conservation remains unwavering and is a testament to their enduring vision.
Innovation has always been their cornerstone and they are happy to be at the forefront of technological advances in the aquaculture business. They are currently leading the way in sustainable salmon farming with Mowi’s 4.0 Smart Technology. Today, Mowi 4.0 exemplifies those innovative intuitions by ensuring sustainable meals with care, passion, and an everlasting commitment to providing goodness for all.

Their devoted and passionate employees are the heart of Mowi, and it is because of their hard work and dedication that Mowi is able to serve 8 million meals per day.
Mowi are proud to lead the Blue Revolution and invite you to join them in celebrating their legacy, their pioneering spirit, and the future of sustainable seafood.
